Ministry Commission

Purpose and objectives

The main objective of the CHARIS Ministry Commission is to create space for communion among the various expressions of the Charismatic Renewal. This includes, for example, schools of evangelization, groups dedicated to healing, worship, formation, as well as publishing and broadcasting initiatives, all based on the experience of baptism in the Holy Spirit.

We understand a charismatic ministry as a service to the people of God, based on baptism in the Holy Spirit, which manifests itself through charisms such as healing, evangelization, teaching, publishing, or broadcasting. Our purpose is to build up the people of God and strengthen the mission of the Church by making fruitful use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We focus on charismatic ministries that operate beyond the diocesan level and maintain a solid relationship with ecclesiastical authority.

Just as Pope Francis quoted Isaiah 54:2 in his inaugural address to CHARIS: “Widen the space of your tent.”

The full text of Isaiah 54:2-3 reads:

“Widen the space of your tent, extend the curtains of your home, do not hold back! Lengthen your ropes, make your tent-pegs firm, for you will burst out to right and to left, your race will dispossess the nations and repopulate deserted towns.”

With this vision, we will work in collaboration with the various ministries that promote baptism in the Holy Spirit, in order to proclaim more effectively that Jesus is Lord, acting in the power of the Holy Spirit. We will organize meetings where those who practice ministries can share their charisms, empower each other, and receive support from CHARIS.
