Be inspired and equipped with leaders from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands.
The Oceania Evangelisation Program (OEP) was first conducted in 2022 at Pentecost. In 2023 over one thousand leaders participated in Hubs across the Oceania region. Both have been powerful experiences of the Holy Spirit inspiring and revitalising leaders and enabling a collaborative vision for evangelisation across the Oceania region.
The Oceania Evangelisation Program will again be conducted in 2024 on Pentecost Sunday, 19 May. The theme for 2024 is ‘Pentecost – A current of grace for the Church in Oceania’. Again, there will be a focus on being open to experiencing the renewing grace that flows from baptism in the Spirit.
The invitation to participate is open to all those involved in evangelisation. There is a particular invitation to Catholic youth ministers, Catholic school educators, youth leaders in ecclesial movements and parishes.
A Current of Grace Catholic Schools Conference will be offered in Canberra on the 20-21 May – see flyer for further information.
In addition to the Pentecost experience, there is an opportunity to participate in cross-cultural short-term missions. In 2024, these will be to Fiji (7-15 July) and Papua New Guinea (TBA).
Offered face-to-face for Australian participants at St Benedict’s Parish Narrabundah in Canberra and online via local Hubs in participating countries across Oceania.
“In this Year of the Holy Spirit in the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn, I want to invite you to gather with me for this key event to experience the grace and power of Pentecost and to be renewed by currents of grace flowing throughout Oceania. My invitation is extended to parishes, members of Movements and staff and leaders in Catholic schools. Please join us to renew the life and mission of the Church across Oceania.”

CURRENTS OF GRACE
RENEWING CATHOLIC SCHOOLS AS CENTRES OF EVANGELISATION (20-21 MAY)
Following the Oceania Evangelisation Program in 2024, Australian and international Catholic education leaders are invited to attend ‘A Current of Grace’, a two day conference focused on re-imagining Catholic schools as centres of evangelisation, drawing on two high-impact strategies – leader and teacher formation and student formation for peer-to-peer youth ministry.
The Conference will be conducted by CSYMI and the ACU La Salle Academy at the ACU Canberra. It will feature keynotes and workshops by Catholic education system and school leaders from Europe, Africa and Oceania. There will also be the opportunity for school visits to witness student peer-to-peer ministry in action.
