Caacupé (Paraguay) – CHARIS participated in the celebrations marking the 10th anniversary of Kkottongnae Paraguay, a work that bears concrete witness to the Gospel through service to the most vulnerable.
Kkottongnae’s House of Mercy welcomes the elderly rescued from abandonment and life on the streets, offering them a family, care and dignity. It is a place where charity becomes a way of life and where the guiding principle of the entire mission—”Love in Action”—is expressed through concrete acts of welcome and service.
Several civil and Church authorities attended the celebration, including the Bishop of Caacupé, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Paraguay, the Ambassador of Paraguay to Korea, the Mayor of Caacupé, seminarians, members of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Kkottongnae collaborators and representatives of organizations committed to human promotion.
Among the guests were Pino Scafuro, Moderator of CHARIS, accompanied by his wife, Karina, and Sandra Caskey, Director of Manna Pack, who is also member of the CHARIS Commission for Human Promotion.
As a sign of communion and gratitude, CHARIS presented a ceramic artwork depicting the Miraculous Catch of Fish (Lk 5), symbolizing the Lord’s call to put out into the deep and become fishers of men. The artwork will remain permanently at the Kkottongnae complex as a lasting sign of the fraternal bond between this work of mercy and the worldwide CHARIS family.
The anniversary was also an opportunity to recall that Baptism in the Holy Spirit always leads to a faith lived through charity. The current of grace of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal finds one of its most authentic expressions when prayer becomes service, communion becomes welcome, and the love of Christ reaches the poorest and most vulnerable in very concrete ways.
