Prayer groups are the most widespread and important reality in terms of the number of the stream of grace. They exist mainly in parishes but also within communities and other realities of the Renewal. It is in prayer groups that the first charismatic experience is usually lived. Prayer groups organize Seminars of Life in the Spirit where baptism in the Holy Spirit can be requested and received.
Prayer groups are often accompanied by a priest, and in some places like the USA, prayer groups are listed by the dioceses. They usually have a coordinator or a discernment team. The geographical scope and diversity make it difficult to list all prayer groups around the world.
CHARIS keeps a register of communities that wish to be in communion with the Holy Father in his desire to constitute a new, single service for all the charismatic realities that exist in the stream of grace.
How is CHARIS at the service of prayer groups?
In addition, CHARIS also offers training courses at both the national and international level.
For example, the first training course organized by CHARIS has just ended in Rome, with 48 leaders from all five continents participating. The majority of the participants came from prayer groups. We have also offered training in South Korea, Zambia and Bolivia and will offer many others that will take place in different parts of the world.
