CHRISTMAS GREETINGS

On December 17, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, received a delegation from the Catholic Charismatic Renewal for the official birth ceremony of CHARIS, the new unique service for Renewal. A new adventure begins, in the continuity of what has been lived for more than 50 years, especially with ICCRS and Catholic Fraternity.

After the very encouraging speech of Cardinal Farrell, I had the opportunity to say a few words. After thanking all those present, especially Jim Murphy and Gilberto Barbosa, Presidents of ICCRS and Catholic Fraternity, I emphasized the importance of humility. In this Christmas period, the incarnation of the Son of God shows us the way to follow: "He, of divine condition, did not jealously hold the rank that equaled him to God. But he annihilates himself, taking the condition of a slave, and becoming like men. (Phil 2: 6-7)

The Church calls us to make the grace of baptism in the Holy Spirit always more known and to be witnesses of communion. It is a magnificent call that should not make us forget that the service of the Church always goes through the path of humility. It is to the extent that we will accept to be like Jesus, sweet and humble, that we will be able to answer this call of the Lord.

In contemplating the child of the manger, I invite you all to pray for us to be humble servants.

I wish you all a happy and holy Christmas.

Jean-Luc Moens
Moderator of CHARIS
