The CHARIS Intercession Commission has the specific purpose of promoting intercession in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and in the Church. In order to fulfill this objective, the Commission organized the Intercession Training Course at the Fraterna Domus retreat house in Sacrofano, Rome, from March 31 to April 4, 2025, as basic training on prophetic intercession. The theme of the formation course was: “Thus I have searched among them for someone who could build a wall or stand in the breach before me to keep me from destroying the land…” (cf. Ezekiel 22:30).

The course was open to anyone who wished to learn more about intercession and grow in it. Its objective was to help participants develop intercession in their communities, prayer groups, and realities, and to establish fervent ministries of intercession. Archbishop Francis Kalist, Cyril John, and María Margarita Benítez were the speakers for the training program, which was attended by 554 people from 66 countries.

The training consisted of teaching sessions, prophetic intercession workshops, a JERICHO prayer march, testimonies, Eucharistic celebrations, prayer for baptism in the Holy Spirit, anointed time of praise and worship, etc. The entire training program was translated into English, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese.

On April 3, all participants in the training program, together with those registered for the first world conference for prayer groups, took part in a prayer pilgrimage to the heart of the Church, the Vatican. There were 1,600 participants from 66 countries. The participants gathered in the Patio of San Dámaso, next to the Apostolic Palace, and then moved in rows through the Vatican gardens interceding for the Universal Church, the intentions of the Holy Father, the Jubilee Year, and AGENDA 2033. They passed through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica, ending with the closing Mass, presided over by Monsignor Francis Kalist, celebrated at the altar of the Chair of St. Peter’s Basilica.

During the training course, participants were encouraged to join the CHARIS Intercession Network. To this end, the CHARIS Intercession Commission has created WhatsApp groups in different languages. After the training, participants who returned to their communities, prayer groups, etc., in different regions formed prophetic intercession groups and intercession networks and sent encouraging comments.

The 2nd World Conference on Intercession will be held at the Canção Nova headquarters in São Paulo, Brazil, from August 5 to 8, 2026.
