Dear friends,
The Holy Father Pope Francis has called for a day of fasting and prayer on Monday, 7 October, 2024, the first anniversary of the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war. Describing the context, the Holy Father termed the timing as “this dramatic hour of our history, while the winds of war and the fires of violence continue to devastate entire peoples and nations”. The notice is a bit short. But as St. Paul exhorts us in 1 Tim 2:1-2, the Lord has entrusted us a big responsibility to pray for everyone and also specially pray for those in authority. Therefore, the CHARIS Intercession Commission urges you to please mobilise as much intercession as possible individually and through your intercession groups/networks. Please encourage people to come together physically or on social media with fasting, reciting the Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy chaplet, with praise and worship, participation in the Holy Eucharist and intercession before the Blessed Sacrament and other forms of intercession like JERICHO prayer. Let us be united with the Holy Father, the whole Church and the entire humanity during these challenging times. Amen!
