Miriam passed away on 9 August and was buried on 11 August in Mount Oliver.
She was a surgeon and gynaecologist and worked for many years in Uganda saving lives and helping mothers to have a baby. She trained many doctors and then with the onset of HIV (Aids) she helped the many suffering to be treated with compassion.
She set up a home care clinic and started Youth Alive and Education for Life – a HIV prevention program. Sister Miriam loved praying before the Blessed Sacrament and was a member of and a servant in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
In July 2014 Sister Miriam spoke on the theme of “Call to Holiness” at the Great Gathering of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Kampala, Uganda. She was a gift to the Renewal and the Church. Later she was transferred to Kenya, where in Nairobi she was a saint living among the marginalised of the slums and helping the youth in those areas. Her prayers and dedication helped in making the lives of Kenyan youth worthwhile especially for those who had lost hope in life, those who were lost in drugs and other vices. She will be missed!
